Parkersburg Entertainers

Taylor Made

Now on House cast at Club Utopia, performs the first Saturday of every month.

I'm Taylor Made from Peterstown, WV.  That's in Monroe County, WV, on the WV-VA border where the men are men, and the sheep are in the witness protection program!

My home bar was the legendary Shamrock Lounge in Bluefield, WV, but since I live so close to Roanoke, VA, my second home became The Park in Roanoke, VA.
I'm a former Miss Shamrock, Miss Shamrock Pride, Miss Hideaway Pride, Miss Tap Room Pride, Miss Beckley-Tri State, Miss Capital City, WV, Miss Roanoke, Miss Virginia, and Entertainer of the Year at The Park.

I have competed in Miss Pride of WV three times and have always come in second runner up.  Go figure!

I'm the owner and operator of Guys and Dolls Hair Salon in Rich Creek, VA.  I love doing hair and working with the public.

In my spare time, I create and make costumes for myself and my friends.  I also do all of my own wigs.  Creating drag is almost a full time job in itself.

Other pastimes include spending time with my guard dog--my Chihuahua Angelina--and my boyfriend Seth.

I am honored to be included on your website.  People interested in booking me may contact me at taylormadedrag@aol.com.

Hi there, I am the one and only Ms Lucy Lipps. I am a 30 yr old diva and performer at Utopia in Parkersburg, WV.

Congratulations for being crowned a icon in gay West Virginia Culture.
MISS MIMI WOODS
Please allow me to introduce myself and some interesting facts about my life and some of the joys of being a female impersonator. Mimi Woods hit the stage on a Thursday night at the Driftwood Lounge in Huntington, WV. It wasn't a planned show, but a friend of mine, Serena Simms and I stepped out in drag just for the fun of it.

As the night progressed and the drinks disappeared. Our friends began to entice us to do a number from the juke box. We did and Mimi Woods was born.

I loved it. I was very lucky, because I grew up in the days of Dreama St. Love, Adrean La Mont, Keisa La Mont, and many more. They were not only friends but taught me the ropes. Then came the Broadway in the west end of Huntington. Jimmy and Guy gave me the push I needed, support for pageants, and etc. They were truly wonderful friends. I began to win pageants: Miss WV USA, Miss WV America, Miss Tri-State America, Miss North America, Miss East Coast America, and many more.

Enjoy the adventure of the Miss USA system and Miss America system. My first national was in Houston Texas, Miss USA Ohio, and let's just forget that night... Lord help us. Then came Charlotte North Carolina, Miss America, scared to death. Here I was, my four dancers and I; Kirby, Marvin, Maxine McKnight and Natalie on that big stage. The talent was "Applause." We didn't realize just how great the night was at the moment. Standing there with all the greats and the announcement came, talent preliminary winner is number 24, Miss Mimi Woods. I was just dumbfounded. I could hear the dancers going crazy. Wow! I made the top ten, the final night. What a wonderful blessing.

Frank Queen and I opened the Polo Club in Huntington, WV which we kept for about five years. What a wonderful time. We made great friends and a lifetime of memories. After the Polo Club, Frank and I decided to be best friends and not lovers and we are still best friends. Then I was blessed to meet another wonderful person, Vince. We moved to Florida and did shows and many of the clubs there. We stayed there for about seven years then moved to Marietta, Ohio. Then one day, Vince was driving us down through Parkersburg, WV and we spotted a building that would be great for a night club, thus the new adventure... Wood Starr is born! So please come and see us. We will do our best to make your visit a great one. Lots of Love, Miss Mimi Woods

MISS GINGER STARR

You're not going to believe this, however, I'll tell you the story anyway. I began life as Vince and never gave DRAG a second thought! I thought it was so silly for a man to dress like a woman.  The very first bar I ever braved was the Driftwood Lounge at the very ripe old age of 17. Sorry Ray!  Jimmy Hobbs was the first gay bartender that I had the pleasure of meeting.  It was a different meeting as there was Lady Bird, Jimmy and a couple of others actually singing Gospel music! And being a Gospel fan myself, I must say they did a delightful job.  Jimmy's happy disposition and smiles made me an addict of the Driftwood Lounge...Thanks Jimmy.

I continued going out for a couple of years then my life did a 180, moved to Myrtle Beach, got a great job, bought a home and became stable...I hated it.  Back to West Virginia I came....still no thought of DRAG.

After my adventure in Myrtle Beach, I moved back to West Virginia, frequently visiting the clubs again....still no thoughts of DRAG.  Then as fate would have it, I met Jerry as Mimi Wood and for the first time in my life there was a DRAG spark. For the first time, it was obvious that I met an entertainer in the art and not just a man wanting to be a woman. (Not that there's anything wrong with that either, it simply wasn't for me).  Immediately after the show, Jerry took off Mimi, he had no desire to live like that.  My eyes were opened for the first time, I knew then that DRAG was far more than a desire to be the opposite sex. Thus, the interest in the art was conceived!

One night I expressed to Jerry that I would like to try it WAY OUT OF TOWN.  Very excited Jerry went to work.  Out of the clear blue sky Jerry said, "Ginger Starr".  We chose a weekend and went to Parkersburg. I entered, what was then the Stables, as Vince and exited as Ginger Starr.  We went to see Amanda Love entertain at Different Strokes...I was a basket of nerves, wondering if I would have the crowd's approval...fortunately I did.

Now, for the first time....ON STAGE....UUHHHGGGG!....Scared beyond words...The club was in Morgantown, (I was so afraid that I remember very little about this night) I couldn't tell you the name of the club that was daring enough to let me on their stage for the first time, however, I do remember the feeling of the crowd loving whatever it was that I did....(don't remember that either). THANK YOU ALL OF MORGANTOWN!

We visited Parkersburg quite often and entertained with Amanda Love.  THANK YOU AMANDA, FOR THE GREAT TIMES.  Except for when you almost ripped my hair off with one of your huge rhinestone rings...we still laugh about that. THANK YOU PARKERSBURG!

Then it was time...time to entertain in HUNTINGTON, WV!  Now, judgment has come!  I wanted everything to be just perfect, but could it be?...uhh, NOPE. (Some of you will remember that riot). We won't get into that but my home town, HUNTINGTON, TIM JAMES AND IVANNA HUMP truly, in different ways, made me feel like a star! THANK YOU HUNTINGTON!  You played one of the biggest roles in creating Ginger Starr and for that I can't thank you enough.

Then I began entertaining at the Driftwood Lounge and made many wonderful friends including our show director, Julia Deville and Larry Ransbottom.  Thank you Larry for all the good times...oh, except for that one pageant....oh well, let's don't get into that either. THANKS TOO ALL THE CUSTOMERS OF THE DRIFTWOOD for a wonderful life as Ginger.

Jerry and I moved to Florida and lived there for 7 years and enjoyed drag in all of Daytona's clubs.  Met some wonderful people there and thank you DAYTONA for all of the great times, however, after living through three hurricanes (in only 2 months, I might add) we decided that we didn't want to wake up one morning will all of our DRAG hanging from the neighbors trees, so off to the West Virginia area we came!  While driving around Parkersburg, I spotted a night club for sale, took down the number and wham...bam....before we knew it, Club Wood Starr's conception began...but ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you, these past couple of months have truly been a labor of love.  As the birth date gets closer the more excited Jerry and I are.  If everything goes as planned we will be open for business as early as October 3, 2007 at 4:00 PM with our Grand Opening on October 6, 2007.

I want to thank all of you in advance for allowing Jerry and I to be a part of Parkersburg's gay community!

Love;

Ginger

Trista Storm

Bodaxia on left, Trista on right.

I started performing at 19 in Charleston. I guess you could see that's where I got my big break. From there I started doing pageants, and I found out I was pretty good at them.

So far I've managed to win Miss Sweetheart of the Grand Palace, which is no longer open, unfortunately. I've managed to win three Zodiac Pre-Lims at Traxx, and I've been a first runner-up to everything under the sun. You know the old saying, "always a bridesmaid, never a bride."

I am currently working at Woodstarr in Parkersburg with the best cast and best barowners I've ever had the opportunity to work with and for.

My goals for the future are to one day hold the title of Miss Pride of West Virginia, Miss Continental Plus, and Miss Gay USA. But we will see where life takes me.

As far as any other information you'd like to know about me, you're more than welcome to e-mail me at trista_storm2002@yahoo.com

Well I was born in Parkersburg WV and raised out in the country. My mother and father split when I was 7 and we moved in with her new boyfriend and his family. I knew I was different in kindergarten because I used to hang out with the girls instead of the boys. Which back then you normally hung out with your own gender. Well when we moved in with my step dad who was 11 years younger then my mom. (go mom) Well we had to pick where we wanted to sleep, and there were 11 people in a 3 bedroom trailer. his mom and step dad, his 2 brothers and 2 sisters , my mom and step dad and me and my 2 brothers. Well I ended up sleeping with his younger brother who was 14 and well had my first crush and sexual experience. Not going in to details there.  Well we ended up get our own place not to long from there. Well to speed up things and missing a lot.My mother died in a car wreck from my step dad drinking and driving in 1990. I was 13 and I got shipped to Florida with my aunt and uncle for 2 1/2 years and he was a preacher. Well that's story in its self. But most people wonder why I don't drink and don't do any drugs. Well it is mostly because of my mothers' death. Well any way I moved back up to WV when I was 16 and moved in with my dad and step mother. With my 2 half brothers , half sister and my younger brother. My dad and step mother drank from the time they got up until they go to bed. So what ever we got we had to work for or find a way to get it. There place was always so dirty that I stayed in a building where you could see through the walls. I stapled up blankets and had a wood stove and went to school and took baths in the sink in the bathroom. We did not have running water at home and had to carry water from a well.. Till this day they still do not have running water. Well the teachers would pack a lunch for me and my brother to take home with me and it would be waiting for me at the last class of the day. Well enough with that. I am sure you do not want to hear about all that.

Well anyway I ended up moving to town when I was 17 I moved in with a friend and me my brother and a friend from high school used to go down by the local gay bar (different strokes) and sit out side of it and watch the people go in and out. We were not old enough to go in yet. Well out side one night I met someone that would change my life. Amanda love. It flipped me out because there was someone who felt the way I did inside and up until that point I did not know that you could do anything about it. During Halloween every year from the time I was 8 I dressed up as some female character. But this was different. Well some how not to far from then I was able to go inside. I met a few people and ended up getting talked into doing a show. Amanda did my make-up for my first show. lol I hope no one ever sees those pics . So I started the same night that Lucy Lipps started. Well I worked at Different Strokes and continued to even after they moved to Vienna and became True Colors. I was Ms. Gay Pride of Parkersburg 1998 and 2001. I have done shows at Genders when they were in Parkersburg and back and forth to True Colors and all the changes that, that place went through. Well I have done shows now in bars in Charleston (Broadway, Trax and Grand Palace) and a show in Huntington (Polo and Driftwood.) I have even done a show in Pitts Pa. at the Eagles. I recently won Ms. Libra at the Trax club. I also do shows and I am on cast at Club Utopia in Parkersburg. (Amanda's Club) I live in Parkersburg and Own my house and have been with the same man for 6 years. And tell all them bitches to stop laughing .lol They still know I am a cock hound and so does my man... lol
